Title: An overview of high-rate MDS codes for distributed storage systems

Abstract: Distributed storage systems built on a large number of unreliable storage nodes have important applications in large-scale data center settings, where redundancy should be introduced in such systems to prevent node failures. A normal way to introduce redundancy is to employ erasure codes such as MDS (Maximum Distance Separable) codes. In this talk, I will present an overview of high-rate MSR codes as well as the recent results and some open problems.

报告人简介: 李杰,湖北大学数学与统计学学院博士后。主要研究方向为分布式存储系统、序列设计、编码理论等。2017年获西南交通大学信息安全博士学位,博士期间在美国田纳西大学联合培养一年。目前主持国家自然科学基金青年科学基金一项、中国博士后科学基金一项。已在IEEE Trans. Inf. Theory, IEEE Trans. Commun., IEEE Commun. Lett. 等高水平期刊上发表学术论文10余篇。相关研究成果获2017 IEEE Jack Keil Wolf ISIT Student Paper Award2016 IEEE Chengdu Section Excellent Student Paper Award.
